Potomac Regatta Honors W-L Crew Founder and Coach Charlie Butt
Over one thousand rowers from DC and Virginia gathered on Saturday, April 24 for the Charlie Butt Regatta on the Potomac. The largest, annual gathering of high school shell racing on the Potomac, the Charlie Butt, is held in honor of 1949 founder and longtime coach of the Washington-Lee HS Crew and NOVA-area rowing advocate.
W-L rowers didn't disappoint their legacy. Both Women's and Men's Varsity 8s placed second in heats then second and fourth respectively in their finals. The second Varsity 8s also had an excellent showing with the Men winning their heat and finishing number two in the final by a mere 2 second margin to St. Alban's. The Women placed second in heats and fourth in their final. Both the Women's and Men's third Varsity 8's finished third. The Women's Freshmen 8 boat garnered a second place finish to TC Williams. The Men's Junior 4 rowed a strong race coming in fourth in a tough field.
